RAMALLAH (PIC)– A weekly report issued by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territory (OCHA) revealed that the demolition of Palestinian houses has escalated in Area C in various parts of the West Bank.
The report issued on Sunday revealed that between July 21-27 alone Israeli occupation authorities demolished 17 buildings in the Area C of the West Bank – 10 of which were located in the Al-Lubban al-Gharbia village in Ramallah – in addition to two houses two animal shelters a vegetable stand and a car repair shop
The report added that Israel’s Jerusalem municipality leveled three plant nurseries a construction materials shop and a car wash in an area of the Hizma village affecting 65 people 49 of them children.
Israeli authorities demolished no less than 199 Palestinian-owned homes in Area C since the beginning of this year displacing 242 people from their homes as compared to the 182 homes and 319 evictees in 2009 the report stated highlighting that settlers seized a two-story house in the Muslim Quarters of the Old City East Jerusalem 3 days ago evicting 8 families.
According to the OCHA report there was a marked rise this week in violence from settlers especially in northern West Bank wherein there were 12 settler attacks including 5 attacks under the context of the “price tag” strategy as a result of the Israeli civil administration’s demolition of two buildings near the Bracha settlement in Nablus.
The report said that ten acres of land in the Safa village in Ramallah located on the western side between the wall and Palestinian territories of 1948 were burned by settlers according to the local council in the village.
