Netanyahu discusses direct talks in Jordan

AMMAN (PIC)– Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu conferred with King Abdullah II of Jordan during a quick visit to Amman on Tuesday on direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Hebrew media quoted Netanyahu as saying that Jordan plays an important role in efforts to push forward the peace process.

A Jordanian royal court statement said that the king’s discussions with Netanyahu focused on means of progressing efforts to solve the “Palestinian-Israeli” conflict on the basis of the two-state solution and within a regional context that would ensure security and stability for all countries and peoples in the region.

It added that the discussions tackled means of furnishing a proper atmosphere to kickoff direct serious and effective Palestinian-Israeli negotiations that would deal with all final status issues in accordance with international resolutions and would lead to the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state that would live in peace side by side with Israel.
