Rights center slams Abba’s militias for arresting sons and kinsmen of MP Halaiqa

Tuesday 27-July-2010

GAZA (PIC)– The Palestinian center for human rights strongly denounced Mahmoud Abbas’s intelligence apparatus for attacking citizens and kidnapping 11 others including two sons of Hamas lawmaker Samira Halaiqa during a raid a few days ago on Al-Sheyukh town in Al-Khalil city.

In a statement the center said that most of the detainees are Halaiqa’s next of kin and all of them are affiliated with Hamas Movement.

According to the center’s investigation a large number of Palestinian masked gunmen aboard 15 vehicles stormed the town at dawn Saturday and encircled many houses before breaking into and ransacking them.

In the meantime a number of these gunmen approached the house of Halaiqa and rounded up her elder son Anas 24 during his stay in front of the house and when her other son Osama 20 rushed to the scene to defend his brother the gunmen embarked on beating him with their rifle butts and kicking him all over his body.

The gunmen also attacked Halaiqa and carried her away as she was taking hold of her son Osama in an attempt to save him but the gunmen dragged the son amid gunfire into one of their cars.

One of the officers in civilian clothing told Halaiqa that they were sent by the Palestinian Authority’s intelligence apparatus.

The brutality of the raid on the town and the moments of rounding up Halaiqa’s two sons were more than a few words can explain. The gunmen also kidnapped nine others before they drove off.

In a separate incident the Hamas Movement in the West Bank said Tuesday that four Palestinian citizens were kidnapped by Abbas’s security militias during different raids in the cities of Nablus and Tulkarem.
