Palestinian MP champions popular and official moves against Israeli measures

Sunday 28-October-2007

GAZA (PIC)– MP Jamal Al-Khudari has denounced the Israeli measures of reducing fuel supplies to the Gaza Strip and cutting off electricity describing them as mass punishment against the Palestinian people that contravenes simplest human rights and international norms.

In a press release on Sunday Khudari who is also the chairman of the newly formed anti sanctions committee said that the measures would only double the suffering of the Palestinian people especially the sick and children and would have negative repercussions on all levels.

The independent lawmaker said that tightening the noose on the Gaza Strip would not contribute to stabilizing the region.

Khudari appealed to the world community and the international organizations to pressure the IOA into halting those “unethical practices and measures” and appealed to the Arab and Islamic governments to support the Palestinian people in face of such siege and persecution.

The MP also called on the human rights institutions to exercise a more effective and urgent role on all levels to explain seriousness of the Israeli mass punishments.

Khudari finally urged the media to allocate a bigger coverage for the oppressive siege imposed on the Palestinian people and to shed light on its negative effects and severe ramifications.
