NABLUS (PIC)– Hamas Movement has strongly condemned Wednesday the “unethical” practices of PA security forces loyal to PA chief Mahmoud Abbas inside the Najah University campus in Nablus city blaming the University administration for allowing such elements into the campus.
Security guards of the campus (most of them affiliated with Fatah faction) backed by Abbas’s security forces and summoned by the University administration attacked the “females’ Musalla” (prayer place allocated for female students) during prayer time and tore a number of leaflets inside it.
Hamas deprecated the assault on the females and threatened to unleash a campaign against the University which is the biggest university in Palestine to dismiss it from the Union of Arab and Muslim universities if it remained idle towards those violent attacks by Abbas’s militias.
In a press statement he issued over the incident Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri the spokesman of Hamas Movement in Gaza Strip affirmed that such unwarranted practices reflect nature and ethical level of those security elements. A copy of the statement was obtained by the PIC.
He also called on the University students to unite against such “crimes” and to publicly expose them accusing the University administration of sanctioning and covering up such illegal practices of the PA security elements.
“We call on the University administration to live up to its educational message and vision and to ensure that such violence won’t be repeated again otherwise we will be forced to launch a campaign to strip it of membership in the Union of Arab and Muslim Universities” warned Abu Zuhri.
The violent attack on the Musalla irked the female students who belong to the Islamic bloc of Hamas Movement prompting them to hold a peaceful rally inside the University campus in condemnation of such immoral behavior.
Empty bottles and stones were hurled by members of the Shabiba bloc the academic wing of Fatah faction at the female students after they peacefully ended their protest rally.
Few months ago one of the University students was killed in cold blood in broad daylight inside the University campus at the hands of members of the Shabiba bloc the academic wing of Fatah faction yet neither the University administration nor Abbas’s security departments in the West Bank took an action against the perpetrators despite being identified by the public. The victim was a member of the Islamic bloc.
