Abu Halabiya appeals for holding emergency summits on serious situation in J’lem

GAZA (PIC)– Dr. Ahmed Abu Halabiya the rapporteur of the parliamentary Jerusalem committee on Saturday appealed to Arab and Muslim countries the organization of Islamic conference and the Arab League to hold emergency summits to discuss the Israeli escalation against occupied Jerusalem.

In a press conference Dr. Abu Halabiya explained the Israeli violations in Jerusalem during last December especially the demolition of Palestinian homes the confiscation of IDs from Jerusalemite citizens and the destruction of Islamic landmarks.

He called for providing international protection for Jerusalem and its people as an occupied territory and activating international law and resolutions related to the city.

The rapporteur urged the UN its security council and the general assembly as well as the UNESCO as a sponsor of the world heritage to necessarily send fact-finding committees to the holy city to witness closely the Israeli violations against the city and its people.

In a related context the international Tadamun (solidarity) society for human rights reported Sunday that Israel escalated during the last year its violations against Islamic and Christian holy places in the occupied Palestinian lands especially in Jerusalem.

The society said it monitored 66 Israeli violations against Palestinian holy places 47 of them took place in Jerusalem in addition to the destruction of dozens of mosques during the last war on Gaza.

The society noted that Israel violated the international law especially the Hague and Geneva conventions which criminalize any violation against the sanctity of holy places.

Meanwhile a weekly report issued by Hamas information office said that Israel killed during last December seven Palestinians four in the Gaza Strip and three in the West Bank and kidnapped about 197 others in addition to 194 workmen inside the 1948 occupied lands.

The report touched on the destructive impacts of the Israeli siege on Gaza during the month and pointed out that the blockade claimed the lives of three more patients.

The report also talked about the violations committed during the month by Mahmoud Abbas’s militias in the West Bank saying that these militias kidnapped 527 Palestinians affiliated with Hamas as well as another one affiliated with Hizb Al-Tahrir.

In a separate incident Abbas’s militias kidnapped during the last two days four Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas in the districts of Nablus and Jenin and summoned dozens.

For its part a source close to the family of ex-detainee in Israeli jails Ahmed Awad said that the prisoner is exposed to excruciating torture at the hand of Abbas militia in Juneid prison and his health is deteriorating.
