Tunisian aid convoy to arrive in Gaza tomorrow

Thursday 22-December-2011

TUNISIA (PIC)– The Tunisian aid convoy Al-Ahrar is due to fly from Tunis-Carthage airport to Egypt on Thursday before heading to the besieged Gaza Strip to deliver medical appliances and four tons of medicines intended to address the urgent needs of Gaza hospitals.

Al-Ahrar convoy was organized by Tunisian boy and girl scouts from the group of Mohamed Balhama in Qabes state.

The convoy is expected to arrive in Gaza on Friday and will be received at Rafah crossing by Red Cross representatives and Palestinian boy and girl scouts.

A tour will be organized for the Tunisian scouts who will visit Gaza hospitals and social organizations and UNRWA institutions.

They also intend to give presents from the general command of the Tunisian scouts to the Palestinian scouts and sign a cooperation agreement with Al-Quds scout group in Gaza.

In a separate incident the Egyptian authorities closed its side of the Rafah border crossing at the pretext that the Palestinians changed the bus company which transports passengers from Gaza to Egypt.

The authority of crossings and borders in Gaza replaced Gaza bus Company with another one but the Egyptian side refused this change and said it would only deal with the usual company.

Palestinian officials criticized this Egyptian behavior and said the Egyptian authorities had no right to object to such change because it was beyond its jurisdictions.
