GAZA (PIC)– Two Israeli soldiers stationed atop a watchtower near Gaza airport in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah were hit by snipers of the Qassam Brigades Saturday night sources in the Brigades the armed wing of Hamas Movement confirmed.
The QB also affirmed that the attack serves as a clear message to the IOF troops that they will be targeted by the Palestinian resistance fighters wherever they are.
“We shall remain steadfast in defense of our country against the Israeli occupation army and we shall sacrifice all precious things for that cause” the QB underscored in a military communiqué it issued in the aftermath of the attack.
The attack comes only two days after QB snipers succeeded in wounding ten IOF servicemen east of Al-Buraij refugee camp east of Gaza Strip during a botched IOF incursion.
“We assure [Israeli war minister Ehud] Barak and the commander of the southern region in the Israeli army that our fighters will monitor and trap their occupation troops in Gaza Strip and that they will never feel secure in the Strip at any time” spokesman of the QB in the refugee camp stressed.
On Thursday a number of IOF servicemen were killed or wounded when around 25 Israeli soldiers fell in a trap planned by the QB fighters as they were attempting to sneak into the refugee camp. The Israeli occupation army acknowledged the attack but alleged that only one soldier was killed and two others were wounded.
Fighters of another Palestinian resistance faction the Quds Brigades of the Islamic Jihad took the credit for shooting an Israeli soldier with two bullets inside the airport and for hitting another soldier standing at the balcony of one of the airport’s buildings.
Both armed wings also fired homemade mortar shells at the IOF troops near the airport.
They explained that the attacks came as a natural response to the incessant IOF troops’ aggressions against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The Quds Brigades also announced the firing of three locally made rockets at Kerem Shalom crossing at an early hour on Sunday.
Two days ago large numbers of IOF troops backed by armored vehicles and apache choppers advanced into the airport but the Gaza-based Aqsa satellite TV reported that the invading troops had withdrawn from the area on Sunday and redeployed at the Kerem Shalom crossing point at the “artificial” borders between Gaza Strip and the 1948-occupied Palestinian lands.
In the West Bank Palestinian resistance fighters succeeded in attacking an IOF outpost in Jenin city in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The “Burak army” an offshoot of the Aqsa Martyrs Brigades (AMB) of Fatah faction claimed responsibility for the attack.
Also on Saturday Hebrew sources affirmed that a Molotov bomb was hurled at an IOF patrol south of Bethlehem city acknowledging that the bomb inflicted damage on the patrol’s jeep but alleged that none of the soldiers was harmed.
