CAIRO (PIC)– Egypt’s freedom and justice party warned Washington that its threat to halt its financial aid to Cairo would terminate the Camp David agreement.
Head of the party Mohamed Mursi stated in a press release that the US aid is part of the Camp David agreement between Egypt and Israel and the American threat to stop it would make Egypt reconsider this peace treaty.
“There is no way to talk about the aid apart from this treaty” Mursi emphasized.
The relationship between Washington and Cairo got strained after the Egyptian authorities prosecuted 44 people including 19 Americans and other foreigners for illegally financing NGOs active in Egypt.
