WEST BANK (PIC)– Palestinian lawmaker Mohamed Totah and former minister Khaled Abu Arafa refused to see Red Cross delegates who tried on Monday to visit them in Al-Maskobiyeh interrogation center.
Totah and Abu Arafa said they took this step in protest at the failure of the Red Cross to fulfill its international obligations to protect Palestinian civilians and its complicity in Israel’s violations against 26 Palestinian lawmakers in detention.
The Palestinian officials affirmed that senior Red Cross officials especially the one named Nicolas allowed the Israeli occupation forces to ransack its headquarters in Jerusalem and kidnap them and at the same time they prevented Jerusalemite citizens from entering the Red Cross to fend off the troops.
The two Jerusalemite leaders who are facing exile from Jerusalem called on the Red Cross to swiftly remove its senior officials Juan-Pedro Schaerer and Nicolas from their positions for their connivance in what happened.
They said these two Red Cross officials became persona non grata among the Palestinians because of their unwelcome attitude towards the Palestinians and their national cause especially with regard to Jerusalem.
