Occupation renews detention of journalist Abu Warda for 12 more days

NABLUS (PIC)– Lawyer of International Tadamun for human rights said that the Salem military court on Wednesday ruled to extend the detention 12 more days to complete the interrogation.

Ahmad al-Beitawi a researcher at Tadamun said that Abu Warda 46 was arrested on 28 December 2011 and that during his interrogation at Petah Tikva he was kept standing handcuffed for 20 hours. Abu warda was also denied meeting with a lawyer and his health deteriorated as a result of the torture as he suffers from heart problems.

Beitawi also said that Abu Warda is married he has five children and works as a correspondent for the Palestine News Network and al-Khaleej news paper. He is also working on his PhD thesis in media studies.

He is expected to appear in court on 15 January 2012.
