Palestinian female prisoners threaten hunger strike

Monday 9-January-2012

RAMALLAH (PIC)– The Palestinian female prisoners in the Israeli occupation jails have threatened to go on hunger strike if the Israeli Hasharon prison administration insisted on its decision to move them to the ward of Israeli convicts.

The Palestinian prisoner’s association said in a statement on Sunday that the prison administration was pondering the move noting that the Israeli convicts were mostly held for murder robbery and drug-related crimes.

The Palestinian prisoners told a lawyer for the association that they told the chief of the prison wards that they would go on hunger strike if the move was enforced on them.

They said that they could be moved to Damon jail if the Hasharon administration’s claim was true namely that they were only four and the ward was too large for them.

The prisoners described the Israeli move as “serious escalation” and called for the immediate cancellation of the idea underlining that they would go on hunger strike even if it cost them their lives.
