GAZA (PIC)– Egyptian intelligence chief called for resumption of dialogue between Fatah and Hamas factions in a telephone conversation with PA premier Ismail Haneyya on Friday Dr. Ahmed Yousef the advisor to the premier announced on Saturday.
In the first such senior level contact between Egypt and the Hamas Movement since its fighters took control of the Gaza Strip to quell a mutiny trend on 14 June Yousef said that Haneyya agreed to resuming dialogue without any conditions on the part of Hamas.
Suleiman said that dialogue is the only solution to the Palestinian internal crisis adding that Cairo would not give up its efforts to unite Palestinian lines.
Haneyya for his part said that Hamas would affirm commitment to the Cairo and Makkah agreements and the national concord document while stressing that the Egyptian role on the security and political levels should continue in the Palestinian arena.
Meanwhile reliable sources on Saturday said that Haneyya would deliver a speech Sunday afternoon to explain Hamas’s step of defeating the mutiny trend in the Fatah faction.
The premier is expected to tackle the ongoing assaults on Hamas cadres and institutions in the West Bank at the hands of the same trend the sources said adding that PA chief Mahmoud Abbas’s “unconstitutional” decision would be also dealt with in the address.
Haneyya is finally expected to stress on dialogue as the main principle for settling the current Palestinian crisis.
