RAMALLAH (PIC)– PA President Mahmoud Abbas has sacked the National Security Chief Rashid Abu Shbak according to unconfirmed reports from Ramallah on Friday afternoon.
According to the reports the sacking was not as a result of the role Abu Shbak has played in hampering the implementation of the Interior Ministry’s security plan and which has resulted at the end in the resignation of the Interior Minister but the reason behind the sacking is rather because Abu Shbak along with other security officials hastily left the Gaza Strip leaving their soldiers to their fates which lead at the end to their surrender to the Qassam Brigades despite the money and arms that has been supplied to them.
There is no official word from Abbas on the subject but those who reported the news say it is part of Abbas’s attempt to restructure the PA’s National Security Council.
