CAIRO (PIC)– The Arab League council of foreign ministers has declared support to legitimacy of PA president and parliament while forming a fact-finding committee to probe events in Gaza.
The council said that the committee should report back to it within one month.
The Arab FMs stressed the importance of sticking to Palestinian national unity and territorial integrity.
They said at conclusion of their extraordinary session in Cairo Friday night that conditions in the Gaza Strip should return to what they had been before the recent events and also called for an end to violent acts in the West Bank.
The council statement also asked for respecting Palestinian legitimacy represented in president Mahmoud Abbas and the PA’s constitutional institutions including the elected PLC.
PA security apparatuses should be structured according to national basis without any interference on the part of any Palestinian faction the statement added.
It asked all Palestinian parties to respond favorably to Arab conciliation efforts and called for breaking the economic siege imposed on the Palestinian people.
