IOA places two kidnapped PA ministers a lawmaker under administrative detention

Monday 4-June-2007

JENIN(PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has decided to place kidnapped PA ministers Nasser Al-Dein Al-Shaer and Wasfi Kabaha in addition to PLC lawmaker Abdul Rahman Zaidan under six-month administrative detention term after failing to charge them legal sources affirmed.

The decision that was taken by the commander of the central region command in the Israeli military on Monday ordered the three PA officials be placed under adminstrative detention in the infamous Jalama prison.

None of the three was accorded fair court procedures as they were informed of the administrative detention order verbally.

According to the allegation of the IOF commander there was a confidential file indicting the three; yet he added neither the concerned PA officials nor their lawyers are allowed to look into that file being classified as “Secret”.

Al-Shaer and Kabaha are the PA education minister and the PA state minister on the apartheid wall affairs respectively while Zaidan is a lawmaker from Hamas Movement and the former PA public works minister.

The unwarranted decision was deprecated by legal and human rights institutions describing it as “weakness and failure on the part of the Israeli intelligence apparatus to substantiate any charges against the PA officials”.

Moreover the national campaign for the defense of the Palestinian legitimacy representative condemned the decision and deplored the unexplained Arab and international silence towards such aggressive IOA measures against duly elected persons enjoying diplomatic immunity.

It also urged concerned international and local human rights and legal institutions to step in and to expose Israel’s numerous violations of international laws and conventions in dealing with the Palestinian people.
