RAMALLAH (PIC)– Dr. Mustafa Al-Barghouthi the PA information minister has praised the Norwegian decision of resuming direct monetary aid to the Palestinian people urging the EU countries to follow the Norwegian step and rescind the unjust economic blockade on the Palestinian people.
“The PA unity government is highly appreciating the Norwegian decision of resuming direct financial aid to the PA government that we believe it would effectively help in annulling the economic sanctions on the Palestinian people” said Barghouthi in a statement he issued Friday and a copy of which was obtained by the PIC.
He also noted that the Norwegian assistance would help in paying part of the PA employees’ wages that were delayed due to the repressive economic blockade.
Barghouthi urged the EU countries to take similar courageous steps as that of Norway and called on them to fairly deal with the duly elected PA unity government that he asserted represents 96% of the Palestinian people.
“Norway had indeed taken an advanced and pioneer step in breaking the oppressive economic blockade and in fairly dealing with the PA unity government as an integrated body and without discrimination” Barghouthi further affirmed.
He described Norway as “a state that respects values of democracy human rights and international laws and conventions”.
In addition Barghouthi revealed that all PA civil and military employees as well as martyrs and prisoners’ families along with other social cases will receive the third payment before the seventh of this month.
Hence he added the PA unity government had so far succeeded in achieving two things in this field that is paying the salaries regularly and covering all sectors without distinction.
On the other hand Barghouthi lashed out at the Israeli occupation government for seizing hundreds of millions of PA tax-revenue money in clear defiance of international laws.
He explained that seizing those money sums was badly affecting health condition in the Palestinian arena as the PA health ministry wasn’t able to provide around 129 kinds of medicines badly needed by the Palestinian hospitals.
Hence Barghouthi urged the international community and human rights and legal institutions to pressure the Israeli occupation government to stop stealing Palestinian money and to immediately release those money sums to help alleviate suffering of the Palestinian people.
