IOA bars Palestinians form burying their dead in occupied Jerusalem

Tuesday 29-May-2007

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Israeli occupation police has issued an order banning Palestinian Jerusalemites from burying their dead in a Muslim cemetery located near the Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Local Palestinian officials in the city condemned the decision and viewed it as part of Israel’s scheme to judaize the city.

The Hebrew Haaretz newspaper that published the orders affirmed that the Israeli occupation police was barring Palestinian Jerusalemites from burying their dead at the back of the Mosque’s southeastern wall for months now on orders of Israeli internal security minister Avi Dichter.

According to the paper Dichter took his decision after he was convinced that Muslims expanded the graveyard at the expense an archeological site.

Yet well informed sources revealed that the decision of Dichter was taken on the request of an Israeli committee “catering for archeological sites in the Temple Mount” which is spearheading the judaization process in the occupied city.

Dichter’s claims however were promptly refuted by PA Awkaf  (endowment) officials in the city who affirmed that the Israeli step was part of the IOA plan to Judaize the city and distort all Muslim landmarks in it as evident by the IOA attempts to confiscate the Muslim Mamanullah cemetery in the occupied city.
