OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– Sheikh Ekrema Sabri the head of the higher Islamic authority in Jerusalem has denounced the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) for organizing the so-called “Jerusalem Marathon”.
He told Quds Press on Thursday that the IOA was trying all it could to Judaize occupied Jerusalem adding that the route of the marathon includes areas in occupied eastern Jerusalem.
He said that the marathon which is organized on Friday 1st March with the participation of 17000 Israelis including MPs government officials and leaders of parties beside 1500 athletes from 52 countries fell in line with those Judaization efforts.
The marathon held for the third year running aims at asserting the reunification of the city under Israeli occupation Sabri said.
He added that choosing Friday in particular for this race was intentional in a bid to impose stricter measures on the Palestinians’ movement and prevent them from reaching the Aqsa mosque for the Friday congregation.
The Aqsa preacher urged all countries participating in that race to withdraw from it and called for boycotting the companies that patronized the race and shouldered its costs.
