GAZA (PIC)– Hamas’ representative in the factional joint office Ayman Taha has affirmed that an agreement was reached between Hamas and Fatah factions to end internecine fighting and to pull out armed men from the streets of Gaza city immediately.
The agreement comes after five days of bloody clashes between Hamas fighters and other Palestinian resistance fighters on the one hand and elements of the mutiny trend within Fatah factions and the PA security apparatuses who attempted to derail the execution of the security plan on the other hand which claimed a number of Palestinian lives.
In a press statement he made Taha explained that the deal was sponsored by the Egyptian security delegation in Gaza Strip after the two factions showed sincere willingness to end the clashes.
Members of the committee that was formed and commissioned to observe the truce started its mission swiftly and roamed Gaza streets to test the agreement on the ground removing roadblocks from streets and brining armed men atop buildings’ roofs down.
According to Taha any breach of the agreement would be reported to the Egyptian delegation for evaluation and arbitration.
Meanwhile Hamas Movement urged spokesmen of its rival Fatah faction to stop deceiving and insulting the intelligence of the Palestinian public through spreading of false accusations against Hamas without verification.
“Our Palestinian people are mature and well aware of what is happening around them so attempts by Fatah spokesmen to twist facts on the ground wouldn’t deceive them as they know the truth of what is going on” Hamas asserted in a statement it issued in this regard and a copy of which was obtained by the PIC.
On Saturday Fatah media apparatuses hastily accused Hamas fighters of attempting to assassinate Brig. Gen Mohammed Al-Masri of the PA intelligence apparatus; yet the accusations were immediately refuted as the assailants were found to be security guards of Fatah spokesman in Gaza Maher Mikdad’s house.
