Israel closes terminal before sick Palestinians but opens it for Fatah fighters

Wednesday 16-May-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Hamas Movement has affirmed on Tuesday that it was seriously monitoring reports on Israel’s permission to hundreds of Fatah fighters who received training courses in Egypt to cross into the Gaza Strip charging that the step meant to escalate tension in the Palestinian arena.

In a statement it issued and a copy of which was obtained by the PIC Hamas questioned “How could the Rafah terminal be sealed off before sick Palestinian citizens at the brink of death and be opened to 450 elements of Fatah fighters to enter the Strip under the watching eyes of the Israelis and the EU observers?”.

In this context Hamas highlighted that the Israeli permission to those elements to come in at this point of time where the Palestinian arena is smoldering due to unfortunate clashes raises a number of question marks about intentions behind such a move and unmasks the party that receives supplies and logistic support from Israel against the Palestinian people.

However the Movement asserted that despite the painful stabs in its back and the deep wounds inflicted on it it will remain faithful to the Palestinian people’s national constants and aspirations and will not allow outlawed groups that don’t wish  good for the Palestinian people to spread mischief in the Palestinian arena.

The Movement moreover urged PA chief Mahmoud Abbas being Fatah top leader to sternly and seriously follow up the matter and to investigate the entry of those Fatah fighters despite the closure of the terminal.

In an unrelated matter four security guards of Rashid Abu Shebak the head of the infamous PA preventive security apparatus were killed Wednesday morning when unknown armed men stormed his home in Tel Al-Hawa suburb southwest of Gaza city.

According to security sources in the PA fierce clashes occurred near the house of Abu Shebak and sounds of bombs heard before the four security men died.

However the unfortunate clashes in Gaza persisted as elements of the PA national security which is under the direct command of Abbas and loyal to Abu Shebak attempted to storm the old building of the PA interior ministry and fired at the Islamic University in Gaza.
