GAZA. (PIC)– Hamas Movement has strongly condemned the armed attack against Egyptian security delegation in Gaza and representatives of Hamas and the PA unity government at the hands of the mutiny trend within Fatah faction on Tuesday.
A member of the Egyptian delegation identified as Brig-Gen. Sharief was lightly wounded in the attack.
Palestinian security sources affirmed that the delegation was in the company of Hamas and PA unity government representatives on their way to monitor the implantation of the truce on the ground when their armored vehicle was ambushed and peppered with at least 100 bullets in an obvious attempt to kill them and further escalate the tension.
The sources also accused elements of the PA Presidential Guards of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and vandals within Fatah faction of shooting at the convoy while passing near the passport office in Gaza city although the truce went into effect.
Fawzi Barhoum Hamas’ spokesman in Gaza Strip asserted that the armored vehicle of the delegation helped in sparing the delegation an imminent carnage at the hands of mutiny trend in Fatah faction.
Late Tuesday night PA premier Ismael Haneyya succeeded in brining representatives of the five influential Palestinian factions namely: Hamas Fatah Islamic Jihad the PFLP and the DFLP where they unanimously agreed to defuse tension and to pull out armed men from Gaza streets.
According to Hamas the incident proves beyond reasonable doubt that the intention to kill was there and the fact that there was a trend within Fatah faction and the PA security apparatuses loyal to Abbas that doesn’t want the Palestinian arena to clam down and the security mess to end forever and working for Israel’s interests is indeed true.
In this regard Hamas urged the Palestinian people and all those concerned to preserve the Palestinian national unity to hit and block that trend and to get rid of it once and for all.
