Civil defense teams and volunteers have retrieved a total of 160 corpses of Palestinian martyrs from under the rubble, the streets, and roads in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of martyrs since the start of the Israeli brutal aggression on Gaza on October 7 to over 15,000 martyrs, including more than 6,150 children and 4,000 women.

According to media sources, civil defense teams use manual and primitive methods to extract the bodies of martyrs, due to the lack of machinery and equipment needed to remove the rubble.

Incomplete data indicate that about 6,500 missing persons are still under the debris, or that their fate is still unknown, including more than 4,700 children and women.

Since last Friday when the temporary humanitarian truce took effect, civil defense teams and citizens have been trying to recover as many martyrs’ bodies as possible, using all available methods.

The past five days have revealed the horror of the humanitarian catastrophe that befell the blockaded Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli bloody aggression. Around 300,000 housing units were damaged due to the Israeli bombardment launched from the air, land, and sea, including 50,000 housing units completely destroyed.

Despite the truce, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have been blocking citizens displaced in southern Gaza from returning to their cities and towns in the north to inspect their homes and search for their missing family members. The IOF has been shooting everybody who tries to reach the north with live bullets on Salah al-Din Street, killing three people and injuring many others.
