The US and the UK have conducted at dawn Tuesday a further round of strikes, described as the most violent and widespread, against Yemeni sites.
The spokesman for the Yemeni forces said, the US-UK aircrafts launched 18 air strikes in the past hours on Yemeni sites, stressing that these attacks will not go unanswered.
In a joint statement by the US, the UK, and other countries, the so-called “Guardian of Prosperity Coalition” acknowledged conducting strikes against 8 sites in Yemen.
A US official told Aljazeera that the strikes were widespread and multilateral, noting that they were launched by US and UK forces with non-operational support from other countries.
The official explained that the strikes targeted missile platforms, drones, and weapons stores.
The Yemeni “Saba Net” agency reported in urgent news that “the US-UK aircrafts are launching strikes on the capital, Sana’a, and a number of governorates.”
Meanwhile, the Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV channel said that US and UK planes “targeted, in 4 strikes, the Al-Dailami Air Base, north of the capital.”
A military official of Ansar Allah group said, “Tonight’s strikes may be the most violent on Sana’a since the start of the aggression against our country.”
For his part, the UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps claimed that these strikes “will deal another blow to their limited stockpiles and ability to threaten global trade.”
Britain’s Ministry of Defense said four precision-guided pave-way bombs were used in targeting two military sites in the vicinity of the Sana’a airport.
Earlier on Monday, the Yemeni armed forces run by Ansar Allah group announced that they had targeted a US military cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden with naval missiles.
Since January 9, tensions have escalated in the Red Sea when Ansar Allah directly targeted a US ship, after targeting cargo ships transporting goods to and from Israel in solidarity with Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, which has been under Israeli genocidal war since last October 7.
