The death toll in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem has mounted to 400 since October 7, while figures on Palestinian prisoners indicate the arrest of 6,920 people during the same period.

The Palestinian Media Center “Muta” documented the martyrdom of 400 Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem in the period between October 7 and February 8.

According to the Center, the martyrs were killed by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) with 95 of them killed in Jenin, 74 in Tulkarem, 54 in Al-Khalil, 46 in Nablus, 38 in Ramallah, and 33 in Jerusalem, in addition to 24 martyrs in Tubas, 16 in Qalqilya, 9 in Bethlehem, 8 in Jericho, and 3 in Salfit.

The newest case was announced on Thursday morning when the young man Muhammad Khalil Al-Barghouti died of his serious injury after he was shot by IOF gunfire two weeks ago while confronting the IOF incursion into the town of Kafr Ain, northwest of Ramallah.

On a similar context, the number of Palestinian detainees has risen to 6,920 since October 7, 2023, after the Israeli occupation army arrested 20 Palestinians during its raid and arrest campaigns in several governorates in the West Bank.

A joint statement by Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Society, said on Thursday that “the total number of Israeli arrests after October 7 rose to about 6,920, including those arrested from homes and military checkpoints as well as those who were forced to turn themselves in under threat and those who were held hostage.”

The statement indicated that “the IOF arrested overnight at least 20 citizens from different cities and towns of the West Bank, including former prisoners.”

The Israeli arrests were “accompanied by sabotage and destruction of citizens’ property amid severe beating and assault of detainees and their families in addition to confiscating their money.”

The occupied West Bank and Jerusalem have been witnessing an escalation in resistance operations and confrontations to Israeli daily raids and arrest campaigns.
