IOF troops clash with Palestinian fighters after botched raid on Qalqilia

Wednesday 9-May-2007

QALQILIA (PIC)– Large numbers of IOF troops backed by military vehicles have raided the West Bank city of Qalqilia at dawn Wednesday but goals of the incursion were botched as Palestinian resistance fighters defending the city engaged them in fierce armed clashes.

Palestinian security source affirmed to the PIC correspondent in the city that at least 20 IOF military vehicles had stormed the city from all directions and unleashed a number of house-searching operations in the city using police dogs.

But goals of the raid had failed the source asserted adding that Palestinian resistance fighters from different Palestinian factions returned fire and engaged the Israelis in intense firefight before the invaders pull out of the city hours later. No arrests were made during the incursion.

In Bethlehem city an Israeli settler was wounded when Palestinian resistance fighters fired on an Israeli car passing a road near the city.

Hebrew sources alleged that the victim was an Israeli lady settler and described her wounds as “moderate”.

In the wake of the incident large number of fully geared Israeli occupation soldiers rushed to the place and searched for the assailants but failed to arrest them.

In Gaza Strip Palestinian resistance fighters fired homemade mortar shells and missiles at the Israeli settlement of Sderot and IOF positions adjacent to the tiny Strip.

According to the Palestinian resistance fighters the missile attacks were only retaliation to the non-stop IOF aggressions against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
