IOF reservists reject involvement in future wars

Tuesday 8-May-2007

NAZARETH (PIC)– In the wake of stunning Winograd committee’s report on the war that Israel waged on Lebanon last summer tens of IOF reservists soldiers and officers have threatened they will not join any future wars the Hebrew state might wage on other countries.

The reservists’ threats came as they demonstrated before the Israeli war ministry in Tel Aviv protesting the ministry’s bad treatment of them after they answered calls to join the war against Hizbullah party.

According to the disgruntled soldiers the ministry has betrayed and turned its back to them after it called them for service in the battle against Lebanon that according to them cost them many days of their job without monetary compensation.

One of the demonstrating soldiers however complained that he had lost his family and his job that made his life useless vowing that he will not answer any further calls from the army to fight.

A lawsuit however was filed by a number of those soldiers against Israeli war minister Amir Peretz and Israeli premier Ehud Olmert for waging that war on Lebanon without proper planning that they acknowledged had claimed lives of more than 200 IOF soldiers and officers within 33 days.

In its report the Winograd committee blamed the Israeli occupation government especially Olmert and Peretz for the humiliating defeat at the hands of Hizbullah fighters.

Calls on both Israeli officials to resign had mounted in the aftermath of the report; yet both of them appeared clinging to their posts despite the public outcry.
