Norway said that the Israeli attacks on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) are unacceptable, reiterating its strong support for the UN agency.
This came in a post shared by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ account on X, including statements by Minister of International Development, Anne Beathe Tvinnereim.
During its ongoing devastating war on Gaza since October 7, 2023, Israel has been launching attacks on UNRWA headquarters and facilities, including schools that harbor Palestinian displaced people, causing horrible massacres.
In her statements when she met UNRWA Commissioner Philippe Lazzarini during the “International Conference for Emergency Humanitarian Response in Gaza”, hosted by Jordan on Tuesday, Tvinnereim reiterated Norway’s strong support for the UN Agency, saying, “I expressed my sympathy on the tragic loss of UNRWA staff in Gaza. Attacks on the agency are unacceptable. Humanitarian workers and installations are protected under international law.”
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating genocidal war on Gaza with absolute US support, leaving nearly 122,000 Palestinians as martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 others missing amid massive famine and destruction.
