The released Palestinian prisoner, Muazaz Ebeyyat, said that the Israeli National Security Minister Itamar bin-Gvir stepped on him, on December 4, 2023, while he was in Ofer prison in the West Bank.
Ebeyyat added in press statements after his release that he was severely beaten late October in Israeli prisons.
The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said that Ebeyyat survived murder attempts more than once during his detention.
Ebeyyat, from Bethlehem, was released on Tuesday and appeared on media in a too thin and exhausted body and was moving with difficulty.
Upon his release, he told Al-Jazeera that he was subjected to severe torture inside Ofer Prison.
Ebeyyat had been held captive for nine months in administrative detention and was released from the Negev prison in a bad health condition, although he did not suffer any health problems before his arrest.
The PPS held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the status in which Ebeyyat was released from Israeli jails.
The PPS renewed its appeal to international human rights groups “to assume their responsibilities towards the ongoing Israeli war of genocide and crimes against prisoners.”
The PPS revealed that the number of administrative detainees in Israeli jails amounted to 3,380 detainees, including women and children.
Bin-Gvir had previously demanded enforcing death penalty against the Palestinian prisoners to resolve the problem of crowded prisons.
