The UN Special Rapporteur on safe drinking water and sanitation, Pedro Araujo-Agudo, said on Monday, “each individual in the Gaza Strip receives only about 4.7 liters of water per day.”

Agudo added that “Israel prevents the entry of about 70 percent of the materials needed to purify water in Gaza”, stressing that water pollution in Gaza is “a silent bomb whose impact is greater than those that destroy buildings.”

On Sunday, the Water Authority (affiliated with the Palestinian Authority) announced accomplishing the entry and distribution of 37,000 liters of fuel needed to continue operating several water wells in the Gaza and North Gaza governorates.

The Authority explained that “the fuel will be distributed to 41 water facilities, including 37 wells and four sewage pumps.”
