BETHLEHEM (PIC)– IOF soldiers Saturday night detained PA minister of local governance Dr. Mohammed Al-Barghouthi for an hour and a half at the main road in Alezariya town in occupied Jerusalem.
Sayel Hanun the information officer at the minister’s office said that an Israeli border police patrol intercepted the minister’s car at a makeshift roadblock noting that the minister was returning from an inspection tour in Bethlehem.
He said that the soldiers confiscated and scrutinized the IDs of the minister and the accompanying delegates without consideration for his diplomatic status and forced them to remain in their cars during that period.
Meanwhile the Hebrew radio said that IOF troops kidnapped ten Palestinians at dawn Sunday in different West Bank areas.
The broadcast quoted an IOF spokesman as saying that eight of them were rounded up in Awja village near the city of Jericho while two others were arrested in Fardis village to the east of Bethlehem. He claimed that they were members in Palestinian resistance factions.
IOF units also at dawn Sunday advanced into the city of Qalqilia and broke into many homes and shops amidst indiscriminate firing that terrorized the civilians witnesses told PIC.
They said that the soldiers damaged a lot of civilian property in the process noting that the soldiers left a number of unexploded bombs after withdrawing from the city.
