A high-level Hamas delegation led by Mohamed Darwish, head of the Movement’s Shura Council, met in Istanbul City with Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan and briefed him on the latest developments regarding the Israeli aggression and the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

The Hamas delegation included members of the political bureau Khalil al-Hayya, Mousa Abu Marzouk and Zaher Jabbarin.

The two sides also discussed the current humanitarian suffering in northern Gaza resulting from the Israeli siege and brutal attacks on the citizens living there and the efforts being made to help the Gaza people, especially in the north.

They also discussed the efforts being made by some parties to restart the ceasefire talks on Gaza as a prelude to reaching a comprehensive deal that ends the war and leads to prisoner swaps.

The Hamas delegation also talked about the daily Israeli crimes and violations across the occupied Palestinian territories, the incarceration conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and other Palestinian issues.

For his part, minister Fidan offered his condolences to the Palestinian people and Hamas on the martyrdom of the Movement’s political leader Yehya al-Sinwar following recent clashes with Israeli forces in southern Gaza.

The Turkish minister affirmed that his country would move diplomatically to rally international action towards the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, especially in the northern areas.

He stressed the need to resume the talks on Gaza in order to reach a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal.
