The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the organization’s teams lost contact with Kamal Adwan Hospital staff after Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed the facility Friday morning, amid ongoing siege and artillery shelling.

In media statements on X, Ghebreyesus stressed the necessity of protecting the health sector in Gaza and making sure that health facilities and staff are not targeted as stipulated in the international humanitarian law.

Ghebreyesus expressed his deep concern about the increasing number of attacks carried out by Israeli occupation forces against the health sector in Gaza.

Earlier on Friday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza described the situation in Kamal Adwan Hospital as “catastrophic”, calling for exerting every effort possible to save the hospital and those inside it.

For the 21st consecutive day, northern Gaza, Jabalia camp and Beit Lahia in particular have been under Israeli siege and starvation war amidst violent air and artillery bombardment, completely isolated from other governorates in the Strip.
