The Palestinian civil defense service in the Gaza Strip said on Tuesday that most of its emergency vehicles in the Gaza province stopped working because there was no fuel to operate them.
“Our cadres are now working with only one water tanker and one rescue vehicle,” the civil defense service said in a statement.
“Since mid-November, our crews have been unable to respond to many of the citizens’ calls and reach the areas where incidents and Israeli attacks happen. Such a situation portends that we are facing disasters and painful humanitarian scenes that will increase the suffering of our people in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression,” the civil defense explained.
The civil defense warned that the humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza province would expand due to the lack of fuel supplies, especially as thousands of displaced citizens continue to leave northern Gaza and there is a growing need for humanitarian response in all areas.
“The Israeli occupation’s refusal to allow in fuel and rescue equipment needed by the civil defense reflects insistence on committing more crimes against our defenseless Palestinian people and a premeditated intent to violate the international humanitarian law,” the civil defense said.
