Israeli warplanes launched on Wednesday airstrikes targeting residential buildings in the city of Palmyra in central Syria, according to the Syrian official television.
The Syrian official news agency (SANA) reported that an Israeli attack on Syria’s historic city of Palmyra in Homs Governorate killed 36 people and wounded more than 50 on Wednesday after it hit residential buildings and an industrial zone.
Since the beginning of 2011, Israel has launched hundreds of air strikes in Syria, targeting Syrian sites in addition to Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria.
Israeli attacks on Syria have escalated in recent weeks, with the intensified Israeli war on Lebanon since last September.
The Israeli occupation army said last week it had attacked transit routes on the Syrian-Lebanese border and reiterated its attacks on residential buildings in a number of cities, including Damascus and Homs, especially the Al-Qusayr border with Lebanon.
