GAZA (PIC)– At least 180 surgeries have been put off in Gaza hospitals after the unpaid cleaning staff declared a strike on Wednesday to demand overdue salaries amid threats of an impending health crisis spokesman for the Palestinian Health Ministry Ashraf al-Qudra warned.
The complicated nature of Gaza’s health sector rocked by a chain of successive crisis erupting the one after the other has made living and health circumstances for Gazan patients all the more appalling al-Qudra declared.
He further warned that the dearth in cleaning services and medical supplies would lead to a health catastrophe.
AL-Qudra called on the unity government to immediately step in and wake up to the scale of the looming crisis.
The strike has been staged by the Gaza cleaning staff in protest at having been unpaid for several months during which they have made every possible effort to serve Gaza’s patients.
