The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has reported on the difficult and unbearable incarceration conditions of the Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli Megiddo jail, highlighting food shortages and a severe lack of personal hygiene supplies.

The Commission’s lawyer, who visited the jail recently, said on Wednesday that Megiddo jailers refuse to provide the prisoners with painkillers or take them to the prison’s infirmary.

A prisoner reported enduring a persistent skin rash due to poor ventilation, high moisture levels, and inadequate personal hygiene conditions in the jail.

The prisoner told the lawyer that the prison administration reduced the one-hour recreation time to just half an hour, which is insufficient for all the detainees to shower.

The prisoner also said that the food served to the Megiddo prisoners is of poor quality and insufficient.
