GAZA (PIC)– The Islamic Jihad Movement on Wednesday strongly denied Hebrew press reports that it had agreed with PA chief Mahmoud Abbas on halting the firing of locally made missiles at Israeli targets near the Gaza Strip.
Nafez Azzam one of the Jihad leaders in the Strip said in a press statement that no one in his Movement had relayed such a position to Abbas.
He explained that Fatah MP Sa’eb Uraikat who is also the chief PLO negotiator with Israel had proposed such a halt during talks with resistance factions in Gaza and Jihad for its turn asked what would the Hebrew state offer in return.
He underlined that any gratis calm would not be accepted by any faction.
Ha’aretz newspaper on Wednesday said that Islamic Jihad agreed with Abbas on ending the firing of missiles from Gaza at Israeli settlements in the 1948 occupied lands.
