The Hamas Movement has affirmed its strong rejection of using aid as a political blackmail tool or distributing aid according to the Israeli terms, stressing that the Israeli proposed aid delivery plan violates international law.
The Hebrew website Walla quoted a senior Israeli official on Monday as saying that the Israeli government had approved an Israeli-US plan to resume the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza through an international fund and private companies.
According to the cabinet decision, the new aid mechanism will be activated according to the situation in the Gaza Strip, and aid will be distributed in humanitarian areas designated by the occupation state in the southern Gaza Strip.
In a press statement on Monday, Hamas described the Israeli plan as a reneging on the Israeli obligations under the Geneva Convention and an extension of the policy of starvation and dispersion that gives Israel additional time to commit more crimes of genocide, which necessitates a firm international, Arab and Egyptian position.
Hamas praised the position of the United Nations and international organizations that reject any arrangements that do not respect basic humanitarian principles, foremost among which are neutrality, independence, humanity, and impartiality, clarifying that the only entities authorized to manage and distribute aid are the relevant international and governmental institutions, not Israel or its agents.
Hamas called on the international community not to be deceived by the Israeli false narratives and to work immediately to completely break the siege and open the crossings to the flow of food and medical aid, under UN supervision and without any military or political interference.
The Movement also pointed out that the Israeli ongoing prevention of humanitarian aid entry clearly reveals its deliberate intention to deepen the famine, holding Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
Since March 2, Israel has closed the Gaza Strip’s crossings to food, relief, medical aid, and goods, causing a significant deterioration in the humanitarian situation of Palestinians, according to government, human rights, and international reports.
