On the 581st day of the Israeli offensive on Gaza, the humanitarian crisis continues to deteriorate. Since resuming military operations on 18 March 2025, following the collapse of a ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces have intensified airstrikes across the Gaza Strip.
These attacks have resulted in significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction.
Key Developments:
Sami Nasr Abu Asr was confirmed killed in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, joining his brother and son Mohammed, who were also killed earlier in the war.
Several injuries were reported after Israeli warplanes struck a home in Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Additional casualties were recorded in Al-Zawaida town, also in central Gaza, following strikes on the Al-Ta’abeen area.
In Gaza City’s Al-Rimal neighborhood, multiple Palestinians were killed and others injured in a strike targeting a residential apartment near Palestine Mosque.
In another deadly attack, four Palestinians — including two young girls — were killed when Israeli forces bombed a household goods store near Al-Madina Pharmacy at the entrance of Nuseirat camp.
Child Ayman Mohammed Hamdan Khafaja was also killed when Israeli forces targeted a tent sheltering displaced families in western Khan Yunis, southern Gaza.
Israeli naval vessels opened fire on the northern Gaza coastline, while artillery shelling targeted the eastern parts of Gaza City.
Death Toll:
The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that in the past 24 hours alone, hospitals received 106 bodies and treated 367 injured individuals, as Israel’s assault continues.
According to the ministry’s daily update, the total death toll from Israel’s campaign since October 7, 2023, has reached 52,760 martyrs while 119,264 others were injured.
Since the resumption of attacks on March 18, 2025 — following Israel’s withdrawal from a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal — the toll has risen by 2,651 killed and 7,223 wounded, bringing the total number of casualties over the past 18 months to 172,024 dead and injured.
The ministry also stated that many victims remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings and on the streets, unreachable due to the ongoing attacks and obstruction of rescue efforts.
The initial phase of a truce agreement, brokered by Egypt and Qatar with US support, began on January 19, 2025. However, on March 18, Israel unilaterally abandoned the agreement — despite Hamas’s compliance — and resumed what has been widely described as a campaign of genocide in Gaza.
