Palestinian-British friendship conference highlights RoR

Tuesday 10-April-2007

RAMALLAH (PIC)– The Palestinian-British friendship congress that was held in Ramallah city and concluded its activities on Monday has highlighted the necessity of preserving Palestinian national constants including the RoR for Palestinian refugees among other constants.

The final statement of the conference also stressed the urgency of establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital explaining that the racist separation wall which Israel is constructing in the West Bank would destroy the Palestinian people’s dream of establishing their viable state.

More than 140 individuals including 55 Britons and dozens of Palestinian political and civil society figures have participated in the meeting.

The statement also condemned the kidnapping of BBC reporter Alan Johnston and called for his immediate safe and unconditional release.

The conference moreover invited Palestinian institutions and civil society foundations to actively partake in the rally it plans to hold in June in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Apparently disgruntled over the continued Israeli undermining of the international legitimacy the conference urged the world to impose sanctions on the Hebrew state till it “abides by resolutions of the international legitimacy”.
