OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– The Israeli Occupation Authority (IOA) has decided to completely close the historical road connecting Jericho city with the occupied city of Jerusalem in preparation to completely isolate the holy city from the rest of the West Bank local Palestinian sources in the city affirmed.
According to the sources the IOA informed the Alezariya municipal council where the road is located that it will seal off the historical road and would make it exclusively for Israeli commuters.
The IOA furthermore said that it will asphalt an alternative road to be used by the Palestinians; but the road will be at the Palestinians’ personal expenses.
“The IOA plan will suffocate the city of Jerusalem and will hinder crossing of the Palestinian people to the south and north of the West Bank” said Hassan Abd Rabbo director of the city’s local government office.
He also asserted that the plan will deny Palestinian Jerusalemites building rights on their own lands in addition the Palestinian official underlined; the scheme will badly affect economic and social life of Palestinian Jerusalemites.
In the year 2004 the International Court of Justice in The Hague ruled that the apartheid separation wall that the IOA is constructing in the West Bank and around Jerusalem was illegal; however defiant Israel continued the construction of the barrier and has almost finished it.
