Olmert involved in new financial scandal Likud wants him out

Saturday 24-March-2007

NAZARETH (PIC)– The Israeli occupation police has accused Israeli premier Ehud Olmert of being involved in a 200000-dollars-financial scandal along with his finance minister Abraham Herschensohn six years ago Hebrew media sources revealed.

According to the Hebrew sources Olmert borrowed the money from Herschensohn’s firm six years ago and gave the firm post-dated checks; however the sources added the checks were not paid in since then as they were deposited with third party that wasn’t disclosed by the police.

The scandal surfaced out three days ago during police interrogation sessions with Herschensohn over separate financial scandal he was implicated with involving millions of dollars.

The Israeli police investigators were chocked over Olmert’s involvement in the 200000-dollars-scandal adding that the matter was accidentally discovered during the investigation.

The police decided to open new file for Olmert over the scandal adding they want to know the fate of the unpaid checks and why they weren’t paid on time without ruling out the scenario of bribery in the case.

Herschensohn underwent interrogation sessions at the police headquarters in the occupied city of Jerusalem over the dubious disappearance of millions of dollars from the sick fund which is under his control. His assistant was also arrested.

News of the new scandal prompted Olmert’s political opponents including Likud Party chair Binyamin Netanyahu among others to demand for his immediate resignation. “This is a corrupt government” Netanyahu said of Olmert’s government.

Netanyahu also urged the Israeli settlers to vote for his party alleging that his party was “the cleanest party in terms of money”.
