IOF gunboats wound 3 Palestinian fishermen tanks advance into Shoka

Sunday 11-March-2007

RAFAH (PIC)– Three Palestinian fishermen were wounded at dawn Sunday when IOF gunboats fired at their fishing boat west of Rafah city south of the Gaza Strip medical sources reported.

They said that one of the fishermen Sami Al-Kuka had his left hand amputated as a result of the intensive firing while shrapnel injuries were all over his body whereas the other two suffered moderate wounds.

Security sources said that the fishermen were the target of heavy machinegun firing in addition to projectiles at 0500 am today. They said that the IOF vessels directly fired at their boat completely destroying it.

Palestinian fishermen are the target of constant harassment on the part of those gunboats that roam the Gaza coasts and routinely fire at and kidnap fishermen.

Also in Rafah district IOF tanks advanced into the village of Shoka at an early hour Sunday amidst firing at residential quarters but no casualties were reported.

IOF troops had advanced into Beit Hanun north of the Strip over the past couple of days and occupied two Palestinian homes.

Meanwhile AMB the armed wing of Fatah Movement declared responsibility for firing four locally made missiles at two Israeli settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip on Saturday.

The AMB said that the attack targeted Kfar Aza and Sderot in retaliation to the IOF daily atrocities in lines of the Palestinian people.

The same armed wing on Sunday said it fired three mortar shells at the IOF military position in Nahal Oz east of the Gaza Strip.
