PA health ministry calls for lifting IOF blockade on Nablus hospitals

Monday 26-February-2007

NABLUS (PIC)– The PA health ministry’s office in Nablus has called for an immediate end to the IOF blockade imposed on the city’s hospitals warning that hundreds of patients are deprived of badly needed treatment.

Dr. Omar Al-Nasr the director of public relations in the health office in Nablus said in a press release that the IOF troops are sealing off the Rafidia and Watania hospital which are central clinics for all northern West Bank districts especially in kidney cancer and neurological diseases in addition to brain surgery.

He affirmed that those patients were harmed as a result of the blockage noting that many of them were receiving chemical treatment for cancer.

Nasr urged WHO ICRC and all human rights advocates to immediately intervene to lift the blockage on those two hospitals and to ensure freedom of movement in and out of them for medical staffers as well as sick citizens.

Beitawi: IOF incursion to distract attention from Aqsa excavations:
Sheikh Hamed Al-Beitawi a member in the PLC for the Nablus district strongly denounced the ongoing IOF incursion describing it as “brutal” and reflects the “occupation’s sabotage mentality”.

He held the Hebrew state responsible for safety of the inhabitants in the city and called on the Arab and Islamic countries and freedom loving nations to intervene and bridle the “Zionist war machine”.

The MP charged the occupation government with launching the invasion to distract the world attention away from its “criminal acts” in Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque.
