GAZA (PIC)– The PA foreign ministry on Saturday denounced EU foreign relations coordinator Javier Solana for stating that he would not meet the Palestinian premier or ministers affiliated with Hamas in the unity government.
The ministry in a press release said that the statement were “personal” and did not reflect the positions of members in the quartet committee and European countries that welcomed the Makkah agreement and the formation of the unity government.
Solana should have rather announced respect to the Palestinian people’s democratic choice and results of the Palestinian legislative elections and should have called instead for lifting the oppressive siege imposed on the Palestinians the ministry elaborated.
The ministry finally expressed surprise at Solana’s attempt to differentiate between members of the expected Palestinian government affirming that the government would follow a united stand and program which all ministers would pursue regardless of their affiliations.
