OIC Foreign Ministers call for international action to protect the Aqsa Mosque

JEDDAH (PIC) — Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference ended an emergency meeting in Jeddah on Thursday night in which they discussed the Israeli aggression on the Aqsa Mosque.

H.E. Mr. Elmar Muharam Uglu Mammadyarov Chairman of the OIC Ministerial Council held a press conference in Jeddah at the end of the conference in which he said that the ministers stressed that the organization has a prime role to play in the protection of the Aqsa Mosque through cooperating with international organizations such as the UN Security Council UNESCO the International court of Justice and the UN Human Rights Commission.

Uglu also said that the OIC will work through International organization to stop Israeli aggressions against the Aqsa Mosque stress Palestinian rights over their holy places and to protect the identity of Jerusalem.

He also said that all participating countries agreed that the excavations that Israel is conducting around the Aqsa Mosque are in violation of International Law the fourth Geneva convention and the UN resolutions relating to Jerusalem.

Participants in the conference also called for an end of the siege imposed on the Palestinian people to support the positive atmosphere resulting from the Makkah agreement between Hamas and Fatah.

Participants also praised King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia for his efforts in to bring the biggest two Palestinian factions together and make them reach an agreement in Makkah.
