IOF troops advance into southern Gaza Strip

Thursday 22-February-2007

KHAN YOUNIS (PIC)– Large numbers of IOF troops at dawn Thursday advanced into southern Gaza Strip under heavy air cover at the pretext of looking for tunnels used to smuggle weapons from the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula into southern Gaza.

IOF sources said that the soldiers would also search for explosive devices planted by Palestinian resistance factions.

Israeli security sources expressed concern that the Qassam Brigades armed wing of the Hamas Movement had smuggled Sagger anti-tank missiles and dug tunnels for that purpose. The armed wing denied the news report but affirmed its right to own arms to confront IOF incursions.

In Bethlehem a special IOF unit kidnapped Mousa Al-Doury 58 from a house in southern Bethlehem city on Thursday morning.

Local sources said that another IOF unit stormed and ransacked Doury’s family home in the same area. The IOF command was trying to arrest Doury for the past ten years on charges of membership in the AMB the armed wing of Fatah faction.

In Tulkarm IOF troops kidnapped two young men in the city’s western suburb and took them to the nearby liaison office.

Locals said that three IOF army jeeps patrolled the suburb and detained a number of citizens last night asking for their IDs and forced them to take off their upper clothes before arresting the two youths.
