OIC emergency meeting to discuss action to protect the Aqsa Mosque

JEDDAH (PIC)– The General Secretariat of the Organization of the Islamic Conference  will be hosting at its headquarters in Jeddah on Thursday 4 Safar 1428 H (22 February 2007) a meeting of its expanded Executive Committee at the Foreign Ministers’ level to discuss the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories particularly against the backdrop of the actions perpetrated by Israel in terms of excavation works and demolitions around the precincts of the holy Mosque of Al-Aqsa and to debate possible action to stop these violations which represent a blatant aggression on the Muslims sanctities and an outrageous violation of both the international law and the Fourth Geneva Accord.

The meeting will be chaired by H.E. Mr. Elmar Muharam Uglu Mammadyarov Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan as current Chairman of the OIC Ministerial Council and attended by representatives of the Member States’ Executive Council Malaysia Qatar Senegal Azerbaijan Yemen Pakistan Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the OIC Secretary General. The meeting will also be attended by delegations of a number of other Member States’ delegations foremost of which that of the State of Palestine.
