GAZA (PIC)– The PA government has welcomed on Sunday the invitation of the Saudi monarch king Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz to host the Palestinian national dialogue in the holy city of Mecca in the hope of ending Hamas-Fatah clashes.

The Saudi news agency quoted the monarch as saying “I call on my Palestinian brethren and their political leaders to immediately end the ongoing tragedy in Gaza Strip and I invite them without distinction to an urgent meeting in the holy city of Mecca to discus and end their political disputes”.

The PA foreign affairs ministry promptly welcomed the invitation adding that the role of the Kingdom was and still is vital in enhancing Arab and Muslim relationships.

“The ministry welcomes the monarch’s invitation and the PA government will deal with it seriously and with full responsibility in order to ensure the initiative’s success in service of the Palestinian national interests” said Taher Al-Nono the ministry’s spokesman.

Furthermore the PA government welcomed Egypt’s initiative which was presented by the Egyptian security delegation in Gaza city to PA premier Ismael Haneyya with the purpose to end security tension in Gaza.

Ghazi Hamad the PA spokesman revealed that the Egyptian delegation handed over an “important” letter from Omar Suleiman the chief of Egypt’s intelligence apparatus to Haneyya.

According to Hamad the Egyptian initiative was of five points namely the immediate end of all military manifestations on Gaza streets end of all forms of tension release of all kidnapped persons removal of all barriers and to allow PA police force to tackle security matters in the Strip.

Hamas Movement for its part affirmed that it has received a copy of the Egyptian initiative and that it was thoroughly studying it adding that the success of any initiative is attached to serious procedures on the ground including unmasking perpetrators of Al-Hedaya Mosque massacre among other crimes.

The Movement also stressed that the PA interior ministry must be given the full authority to carry out its security obligations without any obstructions.

On Sunday Haneyya urged PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to immediately order the pullout of PA security forces loyal to him of Gaza streets and to leave security matters to the PA interior ministry and security forces attached to it.

The PA premier moreover urged the Palestinian people and factions to preserve Palestinian unity and to stop all forms of military demonstrations in Gaza Strip adding that his government was relentlessly working to confine and end the crises.
